"No bail" for Garcia rob gang
By: KIT BAGAIPO
The
arrested members of the notorious Meloy Garcia Robbery Group
could not apply for bail.
This
was the assurance given by police provincial director SSupt.
Edgardo Ingking, in an interview with the Chronicle who allayed
public fears that anyone of the six now in police custody
may be temporarily granted liberty.
Ingking's
assurance was backed by Integrated Bar of the Philippines
(IBP) Bohol president Atty. Isabelo Sales Jr. in a separate
interview with the Chronicle.
Sales
said robbery with homicide is a non-bailable crime when the
evidence is strong against the accused.

town was granted bail Tuesday but was felled by assassins
a few minutes after he was released from detention.
He was on his way to the Cebu City pier to take a homebound
ferry.
Casimiro
"Meloy" Garcia, Gelvin Nuez, Arsenio Polo,
Gerardo Fuentes, Cresencio Reguya and Sofronio Remoreras
were all charged with robbery with homicide at the City
Prosecutors Office.

Except
for Reguya who is recovering at the Gov. Gallares Regional
Hospital, the suspects are detained at the City PNP lock-up
jail.
Doctors
handling Reguya say that he may be paralyzed for the rest
of his life.
According to police, Garcia revealed in an interrogation that
there are 24 other members of their gang who are still at
large.
This
group could strike anytime, police said.
