Congress
inquiry on effects of oil survey without Bohol solons

At
least 10 congressmen from Central Visayas and
party-list groups signed a resolution asking for
an inquiry into the effects of the oil seismic
survey and future drilling at the Bohol-Cebu Strait.
However,
Boholano solons Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes and
Adam Jala did not sign the resolution.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES. Public elementary school
students of barangays Tiptip, Dao, San Isidro
and Manga were among the first recipients yesterday
of free school bags with notebooks, pencils,
crayons, paper pads, ballpens, raincoats for
boys and umbrellas for girls. Next week the
city government will start distributing school
uniforms and shoes to some 9,500 pupils here. |

when the Sandiganbayan hands down its verdict on the
plunder and perjury case against deposed president Joseph
Estrada.
And
with a Supreme Court ruling allowing live coverage via
its camera, the country -- and the world -- can follow
the 9 a.m. proceedings as they unfold at the anti-graft
court's special division, a three-member bench created
to try Estrada for allegedly amassing P4.1 billion in
ill-gotten wealth, including payoffs from illegal gambling,
tobacco tax kickbacks, and stock trading commissions.
