cheating in May polls

Third
district Rep. Adam Jala and Provincial Election Supervisor
Veronico Petalcorin denied allegations of "dagdag-bawas"
carried out against former governor Rene Relampagos
who ran for congressman in the 3rd district during the
May elections.
Rep.
Jala, in an interview with the Chronicle yesterday said
there is no evidence that his camp coerced the Comelec
to cheat in the May elections.

MANILA.
A "mystery man" is part of the cast of characters
behind the $329-million contract awarded to the Chinese
telecommunications firm ZTE Corp. to build the National
Broadband Network (NBN), reports said.
But
businessman Jose "Joey" de Venecia III, son
of the Speaker, said he would reveal the person's identity
only if asked in the proper legal forum.

Dengue
deaths 15; victims reach 1,188

Dengue
death toll in the province has now reached 15 with 1,188
others afflicted since January this year.
This
is the highest number of casualties and victims of the
deadly aedes mosquito since the past 5 years, according
to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot.
Eight of the 15 deaths are from Tagbilaran City.

Korean
gab capped;
Bohol guide awarded
Agnes
Celeste P. Ytac, a freelance Department of Tourism-accredited
tour guide and a member of the Bohol Island Tour Guides
Association of the Philippines, Inc. (BITGAP) was one
of the awardees during the commencement exercises of
the Korean Language Training course conducted in Kyung
Hee University in Seoul, South Korea.
The
two-month training sponsored by the United Nations-World
Tourism Organization (UN-WTO) through the Sustainable
Tourism in Eliminating Poverty (STEP) Foundation ended
last August 17, 2007. Present during the commencement
exercises were the Kyung Hee University President, Ki
Jong Lee, Dean of the College of Hotel and Restaurant
Management of Kyung Hee University, Korean language
teachers from the International Institute for Education
(IIE), Korean buddies, staff from STEP Foundation and
residency training program for ASEAN Tourism, government
officials and delegates.
