9 nights to city fiesta readied

Entertainment will abound as the City Government of Tagbilaran readies for a series of nine nightly activities prior to the city fiesta on May 1.

The conduct of nightly events has been an integral part of the celebration to correspond to the observance of the nine-day novena.

This year's set promises to be fun-filled and engaging with a number of establishments and institutions, sponsoring one-night of merriment.

The City Government, in partnership with the City Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, will start the ball rolling with its Amateur Boxing Tournament on April 22. Soon-to-be the likes of AJ 'Bazooka Banal' and Rey 'Boom-Boom" Bautista may come from this tourney.

The second night will be a showcase of talent with the Search for Miss Tagbilaran 2008 Pre-Pageant and Talent Night. Ten lovely candidates, representing their barangay or institution, will show-off, in the quest to be the city's next ambassadress of goodwill.

The April 25 slot is taken by Pepsi Cola. A variety of songs and dances will surely amaze the crowd.

First Consolidated Bank's own version of entertainment takes centerstage on April 26. The next night will be a night of surprises and prizes with the Peacock Garden Resort, sponsoring a Jingle-Singing Contest.

Two days after, the Miss Tagbilaran 2008 will finally be revealed as the Pageant and Coronation is scheduled on April 29. Comical relief at its peak will be offered by the Bohol Gay Association on the succeeding night.

As of this writing, April 24 and 28 slots are still open. All events, except for the Miss Tagbilaran Pageant Night, will be held at the rear side of the Dao Public Market, starting 8 pm free-of-charge.

On the Fiesta day, the DYHP RMN Cebu will stage a popular serialized drama featuring Goliat and other known drama personalities from Cebu. Stuffs from their sponsors are to be given-away.

At the helm of the preparation is Deputy Mayor Mariano L. Uy. (David S. Maulas)
