It
is with profound joy that I join the St. Joseph Parish
of Tagbilaran in honoring St. Joseph, the Worker on
May 1. In this predominantly Roman Catholic city, this
event that pays homage to its patron saint is always
an event to look forward to.
To
the faithful, this is an opportunity to remember the
virtues for which St. Joseph stood for and pass them
on to the next generation for them to live by as well.
More than anything however, this is also one moment
when people can
|
pause
and reflect upon the blessings that God has bestowed upon them
in the past year.
The
festivities that come with the celebration add color to the
event, the reason why even those from other places converge
in the city on the occasion. As the tired cliché goes,
all roads lead to Tagbilaran on May 1.
I
take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the people
of Tagbilaran for doing their share in making the city what
it is now. A responsible citizenry determines the direction
that a community will take, the reason why Tagbilaran has
become one of the country's Dream Cities.
It
is my hope that the occasion will not only be a moment to
gaze at the past but more importantly to look forward to the
future. Where we are right now won't mean much if we do not
get to where we should be going.
To
all the children of Tagbilaran who are coming over to join
the celebration from where their search for the proverbial
greener pastures have taken them and all guests who are sharing
this memorable event with us, please accept the courtesy of
the port.
May
this year's edition be a fitting addition to all the storied
celebrations that have now become part of Tagbilaran's history.
Above all, may God be honored in this celebration as well
as in our lives.
Happy
Fiesta!
