Bizmen, professionals
gather at BCBP fete

Some 3,000 businessmen and professionals, some together with their families arrived here Friday to participate in the 28th anniversary of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP)

Roberto "Bobby" Lavina, BCBP national president and Larry Veloso, chairman of the board of trustees led the attendees coming from over 100 chapters and outreaches in the entire archipelago.

The main event of the celebration was the Breakfast Fellowship held at the newly expanded Dagohoy Grand Hall at the Bohol Tropics which accomodated 1,500 while the remaining attendees watched on a wide screen at the ground floor Sandugo Grand Ballroomn the sharing of lawyer Doy Nunag, Rene Cortez and Maning Decasa. The delegates arrived Friday which practically filled the Manila flights of Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific and the trips of Weesam, Oceanjet and SuperCat from Cebu City. Delegates from nearby provinces like Ormoc arrived through Ubay Port bringing with them 30 vehicles.

The weekender gathering kicked off with the Praise and Worship led by Lavina with music provided by the Tagbialarn BCBP Music Minister last Friday evening with a jampacked crowd at both function areas of Bohol Tropics Resort Club.

The guests were entertained by the Loboc Youth Ambassador Band at the bayarea of Bohol Tropics.

Gov. Erico Aumentado and Rep. Edgar Chatto graced the affair.

The election of the board of trustees was held after the breakfast fellowship yesterday.

A thanksgiving mass was officiated by Bishop Leonardo Medroso concelebrated by Bishop Crispin Varquez, Fr. Joseph Skelton, Fr. Joe Sumampong, Jr., Fr. Danny Maniwan, and Fr. Bing Husain.

The grand dinner fellowship capped the affair last night at the Bohol Beach Club with entertainment from the Dimiao Children's Rondalla and the Versatile Band. The chapters of Aparri,Davao and Ormoc presented during the fellowship. A re-enactment of the "Sandugo" was done by the HNU Diwanag Dance Troupe with Lavina and Uy, playing the roles of Legaspi and Sikatuna, respectively.

Hosting BCBP's 28th anniversary are the Tagbilaran North, tagbilaran South chapters together with Talibon and Tubigon outreaches.

Al-Joy Uy, regional council director for Bohol and Dumaguete, thanked the participants as well as the host chapters headed by Jojo-Janet Maniwan and Totsi-Myrna Escobia who headed the preparations.

The 29th anniversary next year will be hosted by BCBP Baguio chapter.
