The
subject "Metalingual Aspects of the Sugboanon Bisaya
Language" is offered this summer at the University of
Bohol Graduate School. It is a 3-unit credit subject in MA
in Education. The class will start April 7, 2008 at 2:30-4:30
PM.
Those
who will like to audit or take it for a seminar certificate
are welcome at a special rate of payment. This subject is
for Sugboanon Bisayan speakers. It will really surprise you
and open your eyes on how much you do not know about the Sugboanon
Bisaya.
As
I promise, I will start discussing about parliamentary rules
in Sugboanon Bisaya. On second thought I realized that you
could not yet understand the pure Bisayan terms.
So
what is done is make the discussion in English and insert
the equivalent Bisayan terms.
Some
would say that these terms are archaic (lalom). The reason
why it is lalóm (deep) is because you have covered
it already with the English terms. Remove the cover and the
terms will no longer become lalom. For example, you will say
in English, "Mister Chairman, may I have the floor?"
The Bisayan equivalent is "Ginong Alimpay, mahimo ba
nga akò na usab ang pagtagád?"
