Panglao Airport
starts work July

The proposed P4.2-billion Panglao Bohol International Airport will finally commence its civil works between July and December this year, according to General Manager Alfonso Cusi, Jr. of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) who arrived here yesterday.

The MIAA chief executive briefed Gov. Erico Aumentado yesterday on the latest directive issued by Malacañang regarding the move to fast track the airport.

MANILA. Despite strong objections by lawmakers, the National Food Authority is increasing the price of the rice it sells by less than P1 in the next few months, NFA Assistant Administrator Conrado Ibañez said yesterday.

P5M full subsidy for rice farmers

Provincial lawmakers passed a resolution on Friday granting P5-million for the full subsidy of rice growers in the province.

Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, chair of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) agriculture committee, steered the provincial board in requesting Gov. Erico Aumentado to source out funding for said subsidy.

  Good governance requires outright frankness with one's constituency.

It starts with a National Government that opts for multi-billion, scandal-ridden and less populist-oriented projects like broadband deals, railway projects, highways in a reclamation
area (Macapagal Boulevard, remember?) and policies geared towards export development and OFW benefits. (The over-valued currency of P 56:US1$ which hovered for a long time, is a case in point.)
