P450M city loan
given 'go signal'

City lawmakers on Friday granted an authority for Mayor Dan Lim to proceed with negotiations for a P450 million loan to finance three major infrastructure projects.

The approval came not without objections as Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso and three councilors in the minority bloc maintain reservations on such loan application.

Majority of the lawmakers however pushed for the granting of the authorization together with two other measures requested by the mayor to be taken up during the SP regular session on Friday as special order of the day

Bautista ready for
rematch vs. De Leon

Recent reports from Cebu city showed that WBO International superbantamweight king Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista has informed that he would be ready to face lone tormentor Daniel Ponce de Leon in a rematch if the right opportunity presents itself.

In an interview over radio program "Pinoy Boxing" over RMN-dyHP hosted by popular CDN writer and ring judge Salven Lagumbay, including international judge Edward Ligas, the Boholano prospect fighting out of the ALA Boxing Gym based in Cebu, indicated that a rematch with Ponce de Leon would be an interesting fight, "if the terms and conditions are right."

Herrera assails NBI raid on Anda manganese mine

To protect the interest of the province and quarry permit holder, Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera assailed the conduct of raid by the Bureau of National Investigation (NBI) of the manganese mining in Anda town.

Herrera was reacting to NBI men who recently seized the extracted manganese without the information of Task Force Kabukiran (TFK) formed by Gov. Erico Aumentado. TFK was created to curb indiscriminate illegal logging and quarrying in the province to preserve the environment.
