Coliform: 24M colonies


The coliform level at the controversial drainage outfall has reached to 24 million colonies, far higher than the previous lab test taken few days after its opening which registered only at 2,000 colonies.

The closure of the drainage outfall is non-negotiable, declared Gov. Erico Aumentado yesterday after he received the results of the latest laboratory test released last Friday by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) offices which were alarmed on the rapid increase of pollutants at the seawater fronting the Tagbilaran City Port. While to some Congress is the last refuge of scoundrels, for the most part, during the Panganiban and Puno chief justice's wake, the Supreme Court has been the last refuge of our democracy.

For how long? is the pained cry of advocates for an independent judiciary called "Bantay Korte Suprema".

This is because of the 15-man Supreme Court, seven of them will be retiring next year- opening the floodgates of "friends of the Palace " judges to become Supreme Court Justices. FULL TEXT

Gunman kills ex-guv's former driver

A lone assailant shot and killed a former driver of ex- Bohol Gov. David B. Tirol in broad daylight right at the office of the former governor, in front of the University of Bohol along Ma. Clara, st., Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Henry Calihat, 37, a resident of barangay Libaong, Panglao was on his way to the second floor of the law office of the former governor when the unidentified gunman trailed him and shot the victim's head who died on the spot.
