Bohol will showcase another exposure to some 400 delegates from 100 nations who will arrive in Cebu City to attend the 6th United Nations-World Tourism Organization (UN-WTO) Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities set in October this year.

UN-WTO representative Dominque Bernadete arrived here last Sunday together with DOT Director for Planning Allan Canizal to personally inspect the sites to be visited by the foreign dignitaries.

Rep. Edgar Chatto, chairman of the house tourism committee, escorted the visiting UN-WTO official from Manila.

The Philippines won the bid to host this prestigious tourism forum during the 5th forum held in Tunisia, Africa where Rep. Chatto and Director Canizal represented the country.

"I feel proud we won the bid against China," Chatto said who made strong representations with Pres. Arroyo and DOT Sec. Ace Durano that the forum be held in Mactan, Cebu, and not in Manila.

Bernadette upon arrival was escorted to a countryside tour by Rep Chatto, Chairman Peter Dejaresco of the Provincial Tourism Council, Prov'l Administrator Tommy Abapo Jr. and Prov'l Tourism officer Baby Balio.

The visiting UN-WTO official was tendered a welcome breakfast by Hans Schoof of the newly opened Peacock Garden Luxury Resort & Spa.

She was entertained by the world-class Loboc Children's Choir and was welcomed by Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan and former Rep. Boy Jala at the Loboc River Cruise for lunch and tarsier viewing.

At the world-famous Chocolate Hills, Carmen Mayor Boy Molina welcomed the group. She went through the famous "Bohol countryside tour" which included a stop at the centuries-old Baclayon Church with Vice Mayor Bobsie Uy leading the reception.

In Panglao, Ms. Bernadette inspected the Bohol Beach Club, the proposed site of the cocktails for the delegates prior their departure back to Cebu. Panglao Vice Mayor Pedro Fuertes led town officials during a merienda hosted by Amarela Resort owner Doy Nunag.

The UN-WTO official was likewise extended a briefing of the proposed Abatan River Tour by Mayors Boy Evasco of Maribojoc and Jasmin Balistoy of Cortes.

Gov. Erico Aumentado tendered a luncheon meeting at the Bohol Tropics prior the departure of the UN-WTO executive last Monday. The final details of the Bohol visit was discussed during the meeting.

The governor immediately ordered the release of P1.5 million to construct an air-conditioned rest room at the Chocolate Hills, which completion will be made prior the October visit.
