After
a long wait, boxing-hungry fight fans here will be treated
to another slambang boxing card tomorrow at the popular Island
City Mall (ICM) carpark, this city.
The
pre-Valentines Day event is one of the highlights of Tagbilaran's
Foundation Day anniversary and jointly sponsored by the ever
generous ALA Boxing Gym and the city government.
According
to executive assistant Mark Leo Monton of the city mayor's
office, Bohol's other ring prospect Along Denoy of ALA Boxing
Gym will headline a five-bout card as he crosses mitts with
upset-conscious Michael Rodriguez in a 10-round non-title
fight.

Tomorrow's
fight serves as a tune-up for the Candijay, Bohol-raised
Denoy who is the current WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight
titlist. Denoy is busy preparing for his first title
defense. The 110-pounder Rodriguez hails from the renowned
General Santos City of boxing hero Manny Pacquiao.
Another
Boholano hopeful Glen Masicampo of the Harada Stable,
this city takes on RP contender (lightweight) Arnel
Porras of Kidapawan City, Cotabato in the supporting
event. Masicampo's stablemate Ricky Sismundo opposes
Reman Salim of Bacolod in a grudge rematch in the other
10-rounder.

Fil-Am
JV Tuazon of New Jersey, USA will usher a three-bout four-rounder
against Tagbilaran's Powell Balaba; Saddam Baramban of Gen.
Santos City vs. Edcel Tuñacao of Mandaue City while
upcoming Joseph Von Miñoza of Talamban, Cebu City against
Albert Villacampa of Mandaue City.
Up-and-coming amateur boxers will showcase tomorrow's card
starting at 7 p.m.
Boholano fans have been craving for quite a time to witness
another slamban card since Bohol's topguns AJ "Bazooka"
Banal, Rey "Boom Boo" Bautista and Czar Amonsot
fought in the US mainland the past few months and year.
As
a gesture of thanks, Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim, Bohol's
top boxing patron, who is celebrating his natal day tomorrow
once again make tomorrow, cad open and free to the public.

PSA
TOP AWARDEE. Bohol's only world boxing champion Nonito
Donaire Jr. and swimming sensation Miguel Molina have
been named as 2007 Athletes of the year by the Philippine
sportswriters Association (PSA). The 25-year-old Talibon,
Bohol-born Fil-Am was chosen as one of the best athletes
by the PSA following his shocking 5th round stop-page
over the previously undefeated champion Vic Darchinyan
in their world title fight in Connecticut, USA last year.
Molina on the other hand, copped the Best Male Athlete
award of the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Thailand. The
other major awardees include boxing great Manny Pacquiao,
golfer Frankie Minoza, pool idol Ronnie Alcano and young
grandmaster Wesley So. The PSA Athlete of the year will
be the first for both Donaire and Molina. The San Miguel
Corporation-PSA Annual Awards Night will be held at the
SM Mall of Asia this coming Saturday. Donaire will risk
his IBF and IBO belts for the second time against Australian
