Two Tagbilaran-bound flights in Manila were cancelled yesterday afternoon due to "poor visibility" of the runway at the Tagbilaran City Airport.

Cebu Pacific flight was supposed to depart Manila at 12:15 p.m. while Philippine Airlines was set to depart at 3 p.m. yesterday. Both

Some 300 passengers were stranded in Manila while almost the same number appeared in the manifesto of both flights here.

Observers noted that the "poor visibility" was not solely because of the weather condition but due to the unreplaced runway lights which were stolen some two weeks ago. Minus the basic runway lights, it becomes risky to allow commercial flights to land at the city airport. This, despite that ranking ATO official in Manila earlier assured Gov. Erico Aumentado that they will replace the runway lights immediately.
