The
regional office of the National Telecommunications Commission
has urged the public to be vigilant when buying cell phones
and to be careful where their units are being repaired.
OIC
Dennis Rocamora, of NTC-Bohol said they have been receiving
complaints regarding cell phone units.
Racamora
said buyers should buy phone kits rather than China-made cell
phones since phone kits are registered with the NTC while
majority of the China phones are not.

He
also added that they can not attest the durability and
quality of these China-made phones.
"We
are calling the attention of the public to report to
us any incidents that also involve text scam and other
related matters. For complaints call NTC landline 501-8070
or Racamora at 0928-308-4288.
"We
are also calling the attention of the public to coordinate
with us and let us know their problem by filing proper
complaint in the NTC-7 office because we had already
solved a couple of cases that includes full refund to
those who had bought defective units," he added.

The
NTC-7 is also checking the permits of different cell phone
shops and repair shops in the region.
It
is also closely coordinating with various local government
units in the region to address the problem on cell phone shops
and repair shops that are not complying with the requirements.
