national chemistry tilt

A second year student of Bohol Wisdom School won in the 7th Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad (PNCO) in Manila.

The son of Franklin and Zenaida Bolo, Kenneth, bested 20 junior contestants from the different prestigious schools all over the country as the third placer in the practical exam held at De La Salle University-Manila last February 16.

When asked about not having a chemistry class, he said that he considered his lessons in the Integrated Science during his freshman year. The whole audience also wowed at this student's ability since he is the only winner coming from a Chinese school while all the others came from Philippine Science High Schools.

He himself admitted that primarily, his delight for reading is contributory to this surprising victory. His early exposure to the Internet also helped.

During the contest, both his mother and Josefina Narit, his teacher-coach were worried because every time there is a test or a challenge, he finished first. There seems to be no trace of apprehension on his part.

Apparently confident, Kenneth has this in mind, "I have to win this so that I can have my new computer." Simple it may seem, but this prompted our young chemist to aim for the win.
