Under
the present set up of PNP medical services, there is only
1 tertiary level hospital of the PNP which is the PNP General
Hospital based at Camp Crame, Quezon City while there are
only 16 medical dispensaries in the 16 PNP regions in the
country making health services for the injured or seriously
ill PNP personnel's hard or difficult to avail of medical
services in order to be cured.
Under
the new medical care system, a PNP personnel who suffered
serious injuries during police operations or while on duty
suffered serious illness that needs immediate medical attention,
can now avail of the Enhance Hospital Reimbursement Expenses
(EHRE) in any of the 3 mentioned tertiary hospitals in the
city by way of presenting his latest updated PNP ID and for
the period of 72 hours from admission in the hospital must
submit a copy of his duty status, Letter of Authorization
from the Chief of the Regional Health Services 7 (LOA) and
the filling up of an Application Form. Under this set up,
any PNP personnel availing on this system will no longer deposit
any amount to the hospital and upon release from hospital
will not pay any amount for all the hospitalization expenses
will be paid by the PNP.
However
it was bared by PSUPT Ruiz that there are also illness which
are excluded from the new health care system if and when it
was acquired by the concern PNP member through his lifestyle
and these include hyper-tension, diabetes mellitus, cancer
and to include illness and injuries sustained as result of
having taken intoxicating liquor.
Ingking
welcome the Memoran-dum of Agreement jointly signed by the
PNP, DILG and the Department of Health as this will be accessible,
responsive and affordable to every PNP personnel even to the
lowest rank. (Uldarico Jumang-It Palgan)
