Lim abandons unpopular road
network in uptown

LIM

Mayor Dan Lim announced yesterday that he will abandon the much criticized multi-layered road network at his dream "growth center" in uptown Tagbilaran.

He said that after re-evaluation of the huge project, it will cost the city almost P1 billion to develop such road network which was supposed to be a major highlight of a city growth center earlier envisioned by the Lim administration.

In his weekly "Mayor's Report," Lim said that instead of the road network project, he will concentrate to develop into a metropolitan setting the Integrated Bus Terminal and Central Market area near the modern Island City Mall (ICM).

He will invite top caliber Manila urban planner Palafox group to assist in the planning of the development in uptown Tagbilaran.

The pronouncement of Mayor Lim was welcomed by cross section of the community who has been consistently voicing their objection against the road network plan.

Because of the gigantic road network dream of the city mayor, several development plans of interested private developers have to be canceled since everything was held at bay by the mayor pending the realization of the big road network in the area.
The mayor announced that city hall will now be open for private developers who were earlier eyeing for subdivisions in the area.

Observers said that with the decision of Mayor Lim, the city can expect developers to start coming since the area is ideal for housing projects considering its proximity to ICM and the soon to be developed Central Market and Integrated Bus Terminal.
