BWS retains crown

Defending champions Bohol Wisdom School mini Dragons trounced the Bohol Institute of Technology International College mini Cruisers, 87-75 to sweep the best-of-three championship series 2nd bag the mini-basketball division crown of the on going 13th Bohol Schools Amateur Athletic Association (BSAAA) 3rd Graham C Lim Basketball Challenge at the BWS gym.

The victory gave the defending champions' mini Dragons their two consecutive mini basketball crowns. This proved their dominance in their bracket. The score of game 1 was 82-75.

Vastly improved Kevin Mascariñas fought like a fearless fighter as he drove to the basket aside from collaborating with Kyle Panong and Dave Balaba in getting control of the boards to dictate the tempo in early going of the game.

But John Rusty Pitao and Leo Bongalos exploded midway in the fourth canto to keep the score within reach, 66-70 and threatened the mini Dragons' quest for the title. But to now avail as Kyle Panong, Ven Excel Garrote, J.P. Romo and Kevin Mascariñas were able to put a timely defensive stance to frustrate the fighting wards of coach Janno, who was pinch-hitting for head coach Rustico Pitao.

The game long brilliance of Mascariñas waxed hot defying all guards assigned to him and as the mini Cruisers ignited an uprising, southpaw slot man Panong joined him in the offensive thrusts of the mini Dragons.

In a post game interview, mini Dragons' coach, Gerwin Cabalit said "our deeper bench made the difference. The boys deserved the victory. They were determined to end the best of three series. And I thank the God the Almighty for this win."

This year, the mini Dragons have yet to loose a game. They have an unstained win loss record to win this tournament and swept the City Olympics.

In the high school encounter, Defending champions Bohol Wisdom Chool Golden Dragons starring former all star MVP MC Polestico, Ian Atienz, 6th man Mark Matutes, Cholo Uy, Lyle Gregorio, Darryl "Quality Minute Man" Igar, demolished a struggling Mansasa High School Blue Marlins,80-72 to arrange a best of three championship series.
