Morales leaves for US

A boholano superbantamweight hopeful Ciso "Kid Terrible" Morales was set to leave for the US in preparation for his first ever fight abroad next month.

The newly-crowned WBO Asia Pacific Youth and WBO Oriental king was granted his American Visa early last week in his only first try following an interview at the US Embassy in Manila. The 19-year-old Talibon, Bohol native is gearing up for his March 15 but underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez rematch at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada. He will continue his training in Hawaii under Fil-Am strategist Bobby Villaver.

Morales will be accompanied in the trip by his handlers, the father-and-son duo of Florsky and Kenneth Rontal of the Mindanao Glassware fame in Cagayan de Oro City.

Villaver is currently training in Hawaii two of Thailand's star - Terdsak Jandaeng and former WBA champion Somsak Sithchachawal and was reported eager to train the Filipino prospect. Both will also see action in the Pacquiao-Morales undercard.

Morales improved his unbleamished record to 10 wins with 6 KOs with a 12-round unanimous victory over Indon Marbun Marangin at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte last Feb.16. (Manny B.)
