Nat'l jins evaluate
future rivals

Beijing Olympics-Bound jins Tshomlee Go and Mary Antoinette Rivero will get a chance to observe and evaluate future rivals when they join the Smart/Petron taekwondo team vying in the 2008 Olympics test event set Feb. 26 to 29 in Beijing, China.

According to Philippine Taekwondo Association president Robert N. Aventajado, the event is also known as "Good luck Beijing international invitational tournament."

Athletes from 60 countries which qualified in the Beijing Olympics will see action.

Among these are Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, Japan and Iran.

Aside from Go and Rivero, the other members of the Smart/Petron team are John Paul Lizardo (-58kg), Alexander Briones (-80kg), Kathleen Eunice Alora (-49kg) and Kirstie Elaine Alora (-67kg), delegation head and PTA vice president Sung Chori Hong, men's coach Robert Cruz, women's coach Raul Samson and international referee Roland Campos.

"This is an important part in the preparation of Go and Rivero for their actual Olympic participation," says Hong.
