Dan, Victor feud on

Amid attempts by former OIC Governor Victor Dela Serna to question finances of City Mayor Dan Lim, the city chief executive yesterday asked the Ombudsman to investigate him.

Perhaps an unprecedented move of a public official, the mayor revealed during his weekly "Mayor's Report" yesterday that he wrote Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Pelagio Apostol to initiate an investigation and determine if he committed violations regarding abuse of discretion and graft and corruption.

International tourism gab picks Cebu, Bohol

Bohol will showcase another exposure to some 400 delegates from 100 nations who will arrive in Cebu City to attend the 6th United Nations-World Tourism Organization (UN-WTO) Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities set in October this year.

UN-WTO representative Dominque Bernadete arrived here last Sunday together with DOT Director for Planning Allan Canizal to personally inspect the sites to be visited by the foreign dignitaries.

After a long wait, boxing-hungry fight fans here will be treated to another slambang boxing card tomorrow at the popular Island City Mall (ICM) carpark, this city.

The pre-Valentines Day event is one of the highlights of Tagbilaran's Foundation Day anniversary and jointly sponsored by the ever generous ALA Boxing Gym and the city government.

According to executive assistant Mark Leo Monton of the city mayor's office, Bohol's other ring prospect Along Denoy of ALA Boxing Gym will headline a five-bout card as he crosses mitts with upset-conscious Michael Rodriguez in a 10-round non-title fight.

Obama will be assassinated
if he wins, says Nobel winner

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN. If Barack Obama becomes the next United States president he will surely be assassinated, British Nobel literature laureate Doris Lessing predicted in a newspaper interview published here yesterday.

Obama, who is vying to become the first black president in US history, would certainly not last long, a black man in the position of president. They would murder him," Lessing, 88, told the Dagens Nyheter daily.
