Neri confides
to ex-priests

MANILA. Commission on Higher Education Chairman Romulo Neri is scheduled to meet with a group of former priests and seminarians, all from Bohol in an undisclosed place in Metro Manila tonight.

The Chronicle source said the scheduled meeting was arranged to "allow the Boholano national official to confide with a group he is very comfortable with."

The twin facts of the Philippines being close to Bangladesh in economic destitution and the country being rated as "the most corrupt nation in Asia" may

have finally dawned in some lion-hearted Boholanos.

Somehow, there must be a connection between the two, they must have thought. Therefore, if we hold the future of the nation and the welfare of our children close to our hearts, then they surmised, we cannot be fence sitters all our lives and see our only country go down to the dogs.

A second year student of Bohol Wisdom School won in the 7th Philippine National Chemistry Olympiad (PNCO) in Manila.

The son of Franklin and Zenaida Bolo, Kenneth, bested 20 junior contestants from the different prestigious schools all over the country as the third placer in the practical exam held at De La Salle University-Manila last February 16.

As expected, the University of the Visayas Green Lancers smothered the Bohol PRISAA Selection, 77-63 before a jampacked crowd at the UB Gym Friday night.

Five Green Lancers of coach Elmer "Boy" Cabahug scored double figures to keep the host team at bay and were only threatened by at least nine markers at the turn of the second half.

Arroyo admits
NBN deal flawed

The Purported High-Level Corruption attending the National Broadband Network (NBN) project was known to President Macapagal-Arroyo, but with relations between the Philippines and China at stake, she did not stop the signing of the deal with ZTE Corp. on April 21, 2007.

The President herself, speaking mostly in Filipino, made the disclosure Saturday in an interview with radio commentator Joe Taruc over dzRH. "Someone told me about it the night before the signing of the supply contract. That was one of many signings [in China]. But how can you cancel it the night before, considering that you are dealing with another country?" she said.
