INABANGA ILIG RIDERS. As road is to truck drivers, the river is to ilig raft riders. These boys, aged 10 to 12 years old, of Datag, Inabanga town have painstakingly traveled overnight, riding through the circuitous Inabangan River, spanning a distance of some 20 km. They bring farm produce to be sold in the town market, including some 40 pieces of bamboo poles, which they improvise into a raft. They would go home to Datag, about 12 km away from the town center, via terrestrial road. The river has been an often-traversed access by these ilig riders. (Sol Virtudazo/FTCP)
