Capitol's
development
planning boss dies,60
Former
Provincial Planning and Development Officer Juanito Cambangay
passed away at 9:45 a.m. yesterday. He was 60.
He
was on his daily exercise when he collapsed inside his residence
Uptown, Ubujan this city, before he was rushed to the hospital.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ramiro Hospital due
to cardio pulmonary arrest.
Cambangay
who was also a lawyer retired last year as PPDO of the provincial
government having served four governors, Constancio Torralba,
David Tirol, Rene Relampagos and Erico Aumentado.
"His
demise creates a big vacuum at the Capitol, being a trusted
and reliable development officer," commented Gov. Aumentado
who was shocked to learn of Cambangay's demise. He was even
rehired by the governor as consultant after he retired last
year.
He
was a product of land use planning development and masters
in management when he joined the government, aside from being
a lawyer.
Among
his sterling achievements at the provincial government was
his formulation of an integrated economic, social, physical
plans and policies while he was designated the first head
of the Bohol Environment Management Office (BEMO).
He
is survived by wife, Helen Bompat Cambangay and sons, John
Kaiser Eladio and Josef Michael.
His
remains lie in state at Funeraria Gomez and will be transferred
to his residence. His remains will be brought to the Capitol
a day before his burial. Date will be announced later.
Educator,
musician,
sportsman is dead
Professor
Alberto C. Cainglet, a known original personality of the University
of Bohol, (formerly Rafael Palma College - RPC), died last
Monday. He was 80.
Known
to many as "Sir Albert," he was a foremost educator
when he became an early academic administrator of RPC in the
province. Aside from teaching, he was also the public relations
man of the institution.
Cainglet
also served as school sports administrator and an effective
military training commandant being an army reserved officer
with a rank of lieutenant colonel.
Outside
the campus, the late Cainglet was a political strategist of
former Gov. David Tirol and the late Tagbilaran City Mayor
Venencio Inting.
"Sir
Albert" was also a songwriter, a musician in his own
right. He was band leader and composer. Some of the songs
he wrote were the UB March, ROTC March, BSP Zenith, Dauis
March, Pinanggang Panglao, Ubay March and a lot of Visayan
songs.
He
died as an avid radio listener of dyRD who took time to give
his comments and suggestions (even through the phone when
he was already physically weak).
Cainglet
is survived by children Al-Raquel, Bert-Delia, Lora-Angelo,
Himaya, Pinangga, Elumine Teofe-Gil, and grandchildren.
He
will be given tribute at the University of Bohol at l0 o'clock
this morning.
His
remains will be laid to rest at the Dampas Catholic cemetery
this afternoon after a requiem mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral
at 1 p.m. today.
Mrs.
"Policarpo" dies at 96
Cecilia
Tan Sui Lian vda de Lim died last Jan. 5. She was laid to
rest last Thursday at the Victoria Memorial Park., Taloto
district, this city.
The
deceased, who died at age 96, is the wife of the late Policarpo
Jabigo Lim Con Chiw of this city.
Surviving
the deceased are Dr Manuel and Girlie Lim, Dr. Leonardo and
Maryanne Lim, Engr. Marcial and Aida Lim, Dr. Pek Eng and
Evelyn Lim and Engr Pek Jen and June Lim, grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
Retired BIR man dies, 87
Jose
"Joe" Q. Pernia passed away at 3 a.m. today at the
Ramiro Hospital, this city. He was supposed to celebrate his
88th birthday on Tuesday.
Pernia
served as division chief of the Bureau of Internal Revenue
(BIR) central offices in Manila. He was one of the pioneer
members of the Bohol Jaycees and a member of the Brotherhood
of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP).
He
is survived by his wife, Fe Lopez Pernia and children Linda-Gil,
Tessie, Luchi-Paul, Gigi-Lynne, grandchildren, great grandchildren,
brother, Modesto and sister Charing Pernia Dejaresco. His
remains lie in state at Funeraria Gomez. Interment will be
announced later.
Obituary
The
remains of Jesus Evangelista, 79, retired administrative officer
of the provincial health office, will be laid to final rest
tomorrow afternoon, Monday.
Burial will follow at the Talibon Catholic cemetery after
a requiem mass at 1 p.m. He is survived by his loving wife
Filomena, seven children, in-laws and grandchildren.
