CAMBANGAY
 

The late Atty. Juanito G. Cambangay will be honored by the officials and employees of the Provincial Government of Bohol tomorrow, at the Governor's Office Azotea in the Provincial Capitol, this city.

His remains will be brought from his Uptown home to the Capitol for a necrological service that will start at 9 a.m.

Resolutions of Condolences from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators of the Philippines Bohol Chapter will be presented to the family members of the late Atty. Cambangay.

Governor Erico B. Aumentado will lead in the service and deliver the final eulogy.

   

Atty. Cambangay was serving as Consultant for Official Development Assistance and Local Planning of the Provincial Government when he died of cardiac arrest last Jan. 12.

Before his appointment as consultant, he had been the head of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) for 17 years, until his retirement on August 31, 2007.

Throughout his stint in the PPDO, he made possible numerous achievements such as the adoption of the Bohol Integrated Area Development (BIAD) partnerships framework, and facilitated such major undertakings as the crafting of the Integrated Spatial Plan, the Bohol Irrigation Project Phase 2, the Bohol Circumferential Road Project, and the Panglao International Airport Project.

He was also instrumental in the pouring of Official Development Assistance (ODA) from international agencies into the province, which accelerated its poverty reduction and economic development efforts.

Moreover, Atty. Cambangay was one of the key authors of the Bohol Environment Code, which led to the creation of the Bohol Environment Management Office (which he headed during its first two years of operation, in a concurrent capacity as PPDC.

The requiem mass for Atty. Cambangay will be held at 1 p.m. at the St. Joseph Cathedral, and interment will be at the Victoria Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife Helen and two sons John Kaiser Eladio and Josef Michael.
