School
heads, principals and supervisors gathered at Bohol Tropics
Resort Grand Ballroom on December 28 to honor the outgoing
Superintendent Dr. Cerina C. Bolos of the Division of
Bohol. The tribute celebra-tion was a moment of thanks-giving
and remembrance for her more than forty years of service
to the Boholano children and community.
It could be noted that Dr. Bolos served the Division of
Bohol as a superintendent for more than thirteen years.
It was during her term when significant changes happened
at the local level of DepEd particularly for |
teachers'
welfare. No more collections from teachers fro provincial and
regional meets was imposed during the start of her incumbency.
In the area of arts and culture, Loboc Children's Choir was
put into limelight and now considered as important Boholano
Cultural Heritage. Along the line, Dimiao Children Rondalla
and Musika Kawayan of Alicia shared same recognition.

Also
remembered as part of her achievements were the recognitions
gained by the Division of Bohol in the field of skills
competition particularly in technology and livelihood.
Bohol is also consistent in the records for the best
implementor of Brigada Eskwela at the national level.
The
performance of Bohol being a big division in terms of
academics is also worth remembering during her term.
The latest record shows that Bohol is one among the
top ten in academic performance from more than one hundred
divisions nationwide. And this made Dr. Bolos as one
of the outstanding superintendents of the Philippines.

As
a tribute to the honoree, Maria Petra Ocio, president of Bohol
Association of Public Schools Supervisors and Managers (BAPSSMA)
presented a slide show on the honoree's legacy of service
after which was the awarding of plaque of recognition for
her exemplary contribution to the department.
The
event was graced by the DepEd Regional Director Dr. Carolino
Mordeno. The director emphasized the honorees significant
role in the educative decisions and practices for Region VII.
He made mention of the Regional Unified Test Program (RUTP)
being institutionalized in Region VII and now copied by other
divisions as a memorable contribution from the wisdom of Dr.
Bolos.
On
her response, Dr. Bolos mentioned that the achievements of
Bohol's Education is not her sole victory but a glory to be
shared to all who worked hard in the department particularly
the teachers. As she will be retiring as a champion, she expressed
her gratitude for all who supported her in her career in the
government service, like her family and the rest of DepEd
people.
Dr.
Joseph Irwin A. Lagura and Norma S. Varquez, both assistant
schools division superintendents gave their massages with
words of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Bolos being their
mentor in management and professional development.
The
event became colorful with the different presentations prepared
by the different Educational Service Areas (ESA) and a group
of Supervisors. The fellowship and bonding was made more memorable
with the music from the Division of Bohol Band.
Indeed,
Dr. Bolos leaving the division of Bohol as a legend, will
always be remembered as the boss who loved with full of life
and live with full of love among her constituents.
Truth
to that, she epitomized the reality of her favorite biblical
passage, "You are the salt of the earth
You are
the light of the world."
