Probe on fish cartel

The provincial and city governments will conduct separate investigations on reported expensive prices of fish by local vendors amid reports that a few businessmen are monopolizing the fishing industry here.

The high prices of fish alarmed Boholanos while visiting tourists commented on "why fish is expensive here when Bohol is known as a fishing village."

Prices of good quality fish in the market could never be as low as P130 per kilo, when it used to be priced at P80 per kilo only.

Lim defends demolition

PRES. GARCIA. Two persons met their untimely death while two others are still missing when the motorboat they were boarding sunk some 20-30 meters into docking off the shoreline of island barangay Tugas this town Wednesday night.

The fatalities are identified as Arsenia Jugarap Ocon, 56 and Maria Jugarap Guimbarda, 60, all married. Missing are spouses Luciano Aclan, 58 and Delia Aclan, 55, all residents of said barangay.

golden year as priest


Reverend Monsignor John R. Pernia will mark his 50th anniversary of priesthood on Friday, Jan. 25.

The 74-year old clergy will be the main celebrant during the Thanksgiving Mass at the Lourdes Parish Church, this city at 10 o'clock in the morning, The celebrant's younger brother, Very Rev. Fr. Antonio Pernia who is presently the first Asian superior-general of the Society of Divine Word (SVD) will be one of those who will concelebrate the mass. Other priests who will concelebrate are Msgr. Arcamo, Msgr. Cirilo Darunday, Jr. and Rev. Fr. Jimboy Saco, Lourdes parish priest.

1st Cong'l Dist Athletic
Meet to kick off today


Young athletes from fourteen municipalities of the 1st Congressional District of Bohol will meet at Dauis Central School Grounds starting today for the 1st Congressional Athletic Meet that winds up on Tuesday.

Guests, officiating officials and athletes will start the 3-day activity with a parade at 1 p.m. followed by an opening program and field demonstration. Expected to grace the affair is Gov. Erico B. Aumentado, Congressman Edgar M. Chatto, DepEd, Bohol newly appointed Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Elpidio M. Jala and many other stakeholders from both DepEd and the Local Government
