Fixers of veterans'
claims uncovered

Investigators from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) uncover the presence of "fixers" victimizing pensioners here.

This was bared yesterday by Vicente Gavantes and Eduardo Leyson, special investigators of the PVAO legal and pensions division who were sent here by Defense Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina amid complaints that a syndicate of fixers allegedly facilitate the release of pension claims.

CSC: 40% of govt officials
unqualified for posts

Forty percent of 3,000 government officials, including Cabinet officials, are unqualified to hold their positions, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) bared yesterday.

CSC chairwoman Karina David said these officials, consisting of managers, directors, assistant secretaries and undersecretaries, do not have the appropriate educational background and skills to perform their duties well.

LET'S NOT FORGET EDSA II

 

It is understandable that the casualty (Erap) and the beneficiary (GMA) of the EDSA II People Power Revolt would like to forget its celebration this week.

Erap had called his ouster from power as the "death of democracy" and the Palace had called EDSA II a de facto "non-event" and justified its non-celebration as part of the "healing of wounds."
