Illegal recruiters
for Dubai charged

Two women are charged on Friday with large-scale illegal recruitment and estafa after defrauding overseas bound Boholanos of almost half a million pesos in processing fees for non-existent jobs in Dubai.

The National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) Bohol filed complaints at the City Prosecutor's Office against Erlinda Jamaldin, also known as Erlinda Evangelista y Pondoc, a resident of barangay Tiptip, this city together with her cohort, Eduardina Estrella who is residing in Dubai.

Habal-habal legal soon

Congress has approved a bill regulating the operation of habal-habal, a two-wheel means of transportation in Bohol and many other provinces that is most practical in traveling to rural areas.

Also known as motorcycle-for-hire, habal-habal has been regarded as the "king of barrio road" since it can get to areas no longer negotiable or passable to four-wheel vehicles.

Bohol: Most promising
in ASEAN tourism forum

Bohol has been prominently and frequently cited as the most promising destination for tourism investors and visitors during the 3rd ASEAN Tourism Investment Forum on July 6-9,2008 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila. Successful domestic hotel operators have been saying that Bohol may overtake Boracay in the long run and the next destination to beat outside of Metro Manila.

Mr. Sammy Lim, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes in the potentials of Bohol, and the only thing wanting in Bohol is that the airport needs to be fixed, and then investors and visitors will certainly come.
