in the island-state of Hawaii, USA has recognized the role of local broadcasting
in uniting its people even those away from their homeland.
The
recognition was loudly expressed in a Plaque given by the Filipino Chamber of
Commerce of Hawaii, USA to Roberto "Batchoy" Alba, anchorman of the
top-rated radio morning program "Pulso heard over dyRD AM 9-10 in the morning,
Monday to Friday. He is heard with his co-anchor, university professor Rene Real.
It

Alba,
a barangay kagawad of Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City, is also a consistent awardee
as among top nominees for the search of Ten Outstanding Barangay Official of the
Year (TOBOY) Awards and was Bohol Tri-Media Association's Most Outstanding Public
Service Broadcaster in 2006.

Plaque of Recognition was signed by Jack A. Legal - Hawaii Chamber of Commerce
president and Yonie Bermoy Malig-on, executive director.
The
award cited Alba's "dedicated service in linking the Boholano people worldwide
thru Internet radio broadcasting."
Doing
the honors to award the plaque was chaplain Fr. Julian Lupot, Jr. assisted by
Nene Bermoy Reynes, the elder sister of the US-based Yonie Malig-on, who are generous
church benefactors, native residents of Mansasa. | The
brief awarding ceremony emceed by Evie S. Gulleban, was a highlight during the
"Dinner-for-a-Cause," a church-building fund raising, held Friday night,
May 30 at the Sta. Cruz Chaplaincy, Mansasa Heights, this city.
The
affair was attended by top government officials; among them were board member
Yul Lopez, Alfonso Damalerio II, Cong. Edgar Chatto's chief of staff Billy Tongco,
city vice mayor Jose Antonio Veloso, city councilors Bebiano Inting, Mariquit
Oppus. Balikbayans also attended the affair. |
