Amay Bisaya throws first hat for "guv"

Manila - With the 2010 polls two years away, Boholano actor Amay Bisaya has stirred the first ripples in the political waters when he told the Chronicle he was contesting the gubernatorial race.

The veteran actor said he would represent the KBL Party (Imelda Wing) and KAMPI (Bong Revilla group) and had reportedly voiced his intention to both last-termer Governor Rico Aumentado and Boholano multi-awarded actor-director Cesar Montano.

Whatever parties will support him, Bisaya says he will carry senator Bong Revilla who he said is reportedly eyeing the vice-presidency.He mentioned it was Senator Revilla who voluntarily defrayed the transfer of the remains of the late Boholano novel singer Yoyoy Villame - in order to be seen by his province mates for the last time.

Cesar Montano has not made any official announcement regarding his political intentions in Bohol. iN 2007, he was groomed by some Opposition groups to run against incumbent Governor Aumentado. He was prevailed upon instead to run as senator under the administration ticket.

Montano remains very visible in the province since after the 2007 polls. Political pundits have placed him as potential candidate for either Governor or Congressman of the First district as he hails from Baclayon town.

The other names being floated for governorship is last-term First District Rep. Edgar Chatto and Vice Governor Julius Herrera. Unlike Chatto, Herrera has the option to run for the first district.

Bisaya said that with his contacts in show business here and abroad - (including the actor Chuck Norris), he intends to erect an Entertainment Capital (a small Hollywood) near the foot of the famed Chocolate Hills.

Along with his goal to attract investors in tourism and agriculture - the actor said he hopes to give employment to Boholanos and prevent the exodus of talent and skills as OFWs in other countries.

Amay Bisaya was once closely identified with Mrs Imelda Marcos of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL).
