After a three-month
break, the 32nd National Milo Marathon elimination race resumes in Dumaguete City
today.
Defending
champions Elmer Bartolo and Guia Gonzales are competing anew against an approximate
field of 5,000 and will gun for return slots to the Nov. 30 national finals. A
total of P159,000 in cash, trophies and medals will be staked in the elite 21K,
3K and 5K runs. | The
succeeding editions of the elimination phase are as follows: Bacolod City on June
29, Iloilo on July 6, Roxas on July 13, simultaneous four legs in Metro Manila,
Tarlac, Cebu and Davao on Aug. 3, Legaspi on Aug. 10, Naga on Aug. 17, San Pablo
on Aug. 24, Tacloban on Aug. 31, Tagbilaran on September 7, San Fernando, La Union
on Sept. 14, Laoag on Sept. 21, Santiago, Isabela on Sept. 28, Baguio on Oct.
5, Dipolog on Oct. 12, Iligan on Oct. 19, Butuan on Oct. 26 and Cagayan de Oro
on Nov. 9. This year's races began in February with the first four legs held
in Batangas City, Puerto Princesa, Clark Freeport Zone in Angeles City and General
Santos City.
By
the time the national finals come around, the longest running event in the country
would have drawn 200,000 runners nationwide to the race. |
