Rico speaks to 3 Pinoy groups in US

AUMENTADO

LAS VEGAS, USA. Gov. Erico Aumentado will start this week his string of speaking engagements with Boholano groups in the United States of America.

The engagements kick off with the grand international reunion tonight of some 400 delegates of the Bohol Provincial Hospital School of Nursing (BPHSN) alumni and staff associations.

Aumentado said according to Fe Hora-San Juan of Panglao town and Concordia Vistal, the association president and adviser, respectively, they will troop to the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino for the two-day gab. The governor will be the nurses' and staff's guest of honor and speaker on the opening night which is also the association's Family Night.

Tomorrow, the Council of Leaders of the Confederation of Boholanos, USA and Canada, Inc. (Conbusac) will gather at the Cathay House Restaurant for their mid-term conference.

Conbusac President Carlos Cagaanan of Lila town will introduce the governor for his after-luncheon speech.

In his letter-invitation to Aumentado, Cagaanan said the council "will appreciate it very much if you could talk on the developments in our beloved province of Bohol."

In a separate letter, he also told the governor that he was "thrilled to land at the Panglao Bohol International Airport" the next time that he comes home for a visit.

The conference starts at 10 a.m. and will end by around 4 p.m.

In the evening, Aumentado will join Vice President Noli de Castro as guest during the dinner-conference with the business and Filipino communities in Las Vegas.

He is also expected to keynote the gathering of the Boholanos in Washington State headed by Cagaanan, and other individual member-organizations of the umbrella, Conbusac that can fit into his schedule.

While in the US, the governor is also campaigning for attendance to the Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan or global conference of Boholanos slated in Bohol in July next year, as well as for votes among internet users to include the Chocolate Hills in the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

As of last night, the Chocolate Hills has climbed to 4th slot among 77 semi-finalists. It is next only to Ha Long Bay of Vietnam, Cox's Bazar Beach in Bangladesh, and Tubbataha Reef in Palawan also in the Philippines.

Others in the Top 7 live ranking so far - all in Asia - are the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park also in Palawan, the Ganges River that runs across Bangladesh and India and Mt. Everest in Nepal.

At 9th slot is the Mayon Volcano in the Philippines' Bicol Region.
