BHIP-3 feasibility study fund assured

The conduct of the feasibility study and detailed design on the enhancement of the Malinao Dam in Pilar town has started.

This after the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) sent to Bohol two hydraulic structural engineers of the Korea Water Resources Corp. (K-Water) to conduct preliminary works leading to the project implementation, consult with involved organizations and collect data and make a contract for the field survey and write the inception report. They will stay until July 2. Their project manager is expected in Bohol June 8, and will stay until June 17.

Upon their return, they will conduct the five-month site survey and analysis as well as review the feasibility study.

The project is funded with a grant from KOICA of US$1 million, for which the leader of the implementation survey team Kim In, then National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Marcelino Tugaoen Jr. and Aumentado signed the record of discussions on November 27, 2007 at the Bohol Beach Club.

   

In his letter to Gov. Erico Aumentado, KOICA Deputy Resident Representative Joon Sung Park introduced the consultants as Yung Jin Kim, project manager and engineers Gun-Il Chun and Tae-Geun Kim.

The project manager is a water resources planner and civil engineer who graduated his baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degrees from the Chungbuk National University (CNU) in Korea..

As team leader of the water resources design team, he established the master plan of water resources development and the detailed design of the Krang Ponley water resources development project, both in Cambodia.

His Philippines assignment includes the commencement presentation and conference wherein he will present their work plans and the requirements of involved organizations; employment of local staff; price negotiation and contract for the field survey, and field survey for the project area.

At the commencement conference, Chun will present their work range, field survey, support for office facilities, open and maintain the local office, employ and manage the local staff inquire, evaluate and contract the companies for the field survey, conduct the field survey for the project area and make out the inception report.

He completed his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Structural Engineering also at CNU. His work as manager of the Water Resources Design Team has brought him also to Indonesia, Vietnam and Peru on top of Cambodia.

On the other hand, Tae-Geun Kim will conduct the field survey for the project area, support in the inquiry and evaluation of the companies for the field survey and for making out the contract and employment documents, maintain the local office, make out the inception report and design criteria and collect related data.

He finished his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Structural Engineering at the Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. His work as senior clerk at K-Water has also brought him to Cambodia and Iraq.

As consultants, they will spend part of their time in Bohol and in Korea.
