After the highly-anticipated
Manny Pacquiao vs David Diaz this coming June 28, boxing fans here will focus
their attention to the upcoming fights of two of their ring idols from the town
of Talibon, Bohol in the next two months.
Another
report compiled by Salven Lagumbay of CDN showed that the fighting Donaire brother
- Nonito and Glenn - are both slated for big fights in July and August as they
aim to become the first Filipino siblings to become world champions at the same
time.
Glenn
Donaire, the older of the two, will attempt to wrest the IBF light fly-weight
crown when he challenges reigning champion Ulises Solis on July 12 in Veracruz,
Veracruz, Mexico.
The
bout will be on the undercard of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr who will be fighting his
38th activity bout.
"He's
been training at they gym since the postponement of their fight. He has not stopped,"
said Nonito Donaire Sr, who trains his two sons.
Solis
is coming off wins against Filipinos Rodel Mayol and Bert Batawang, and hopes
to add Glenn Donaire to his list of victims.
The
Arthro Kontra Arthritis-sponsored Nonito Donaire Jr, the reigning IBF flyweight
king, will also defend his title against a soon-to-be-named opponent on August
2 in the United States.
The
bout will most likely take place underneath the IBF superflyweight showdown between
Dmitri Kirilov and Vic Darchinyan, whom Donaire easily dispatched in their first
encounter.
The
talented Donaire had indicated he doesn't mind being on the undercard, as long
as he fights soon, and even hinted at possibly going up in weight to take on such
big names as Darchinyan, WBC champ Cristian Mijares and WBO champ Fernando Montiel.
