1 killed in jail recoup

One person was killed as absolute control and management of the Bohol Detention and Rehabilitation Center (BDRC) was regained by provincial jail authorities yesterday following a swift pre-emptive strike by a composite team of the Bohol Provincial Police Office, the PNP Regional Special Reaction Unit and the Philippine Army.

MANILA. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) yesterday said it is set to launch a program to distribute about nine million compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to low-income Filipino families as part of a plan to phase out incandescent bulbs in the country by 2010.

PHILIPPINE "INDEPENDENCE" DAY

 

The "damaged" Filipino culture of today is said to be the product of 400 years of Spain and 50 years of Hollywood.

Spain brought us Christianity that bordered on the ritualistic, sometimes pagan rites and the almost deification of the clergy. The Spanish bureaucrats and the soldiers subjugated the tribes into small fiefdoms and then ruled them.
