Prayer
rally set on Friday
A
multi-sectoral group of concerned citizens, alarmed by the
growing crisis gripping the nation beset by corruption scandals
and human rights violations, has set the first of a series
of Prayer Rallies at the Plaza Rizal in the city.
Meanwhile,
the series of "Mass for Truth" will kick off at
the Baclayon Church at 5 o'clock this afternoon with Msgr.
Boy Nunag officiating.

Named
Boholanos for Truth, Accountability and Reform, the
group also said there will be other "Masses for
Truth" to be held in selected towns in dates to
be announced shortly. A number of priests had already
indicated their decision to officiate in these mass
celebrations.
The
group likewise issued a "Manifesto" last Friday
in a meeting held at Saya's Restaurant indicating that
the confluence of events that led to its formation was
due to their individual discernment and "commitment
to get involved in the quest for truth, transparency,
accountability and reform in three major aspects of
social life: governance, business and civil society."

In
its "Manifesto," the group stated:
"That
we recognize and support the courageous act of Mr. Rodolfo
"Jun" Lozada Jr. in exposing what he knows about
the NBN-ZTE controversy and other corrupt practices;
That we acknowledge Secretary Romulo L. Neri to be a Boholano
by ancestry and one of our own kind; and as such, we expect
him to be courageous and truthful as expected of the sons
of Francisco Dagohoy, the Boholano hero who led the longest
revolt in our country's history;
That
being Boholanos, we support, but also fervently pray for and
strongly appeal to the Boholano spirit in the being of Romulo
Neri to stand up for the truth and live out the ideals of
a genuine and decent Boholano (in the tradition and in honor
of the Boholano President Carlos P. Garcia) by telling the
whole country all that he knows about the corruption in our
government to help liberate our people from this quagmire
of falsehood and decadence.
