MANILA
- Only City Councilor Ann Mariquit D. Oppus chose not to join
the 7th National Convention of the Philippine Councilors League
(PCL) here which started last Friday at the World Trade Center
and will wind up today.
City
Vice Mayor Jose Antonio S. Veloso accompanied all the city
councilors except Oppus in the annual gathering of city and
municipal councilors highlighted with the election of the
league's national officers yesterday.
As
of this writing, the results of the election has not been
known yet. But Sen. Migz Zubiri and National Security Adviser
Norberto Gonzales already made their respective speeches during
the plenary session.

PCL-Bohol
Pres. Brigido Imboy was reported to be running as vice-chairman
of the PCL Island Council for the Visayas but city councilors
did not meet him as of yesterday afternoon during the voting.
It's
good that the city vice-mayor saw to it that the city councilors
were registered before hand. Otherwise, we would have suffered
with the same predicament experienced by the other city and
municipal councilors from all over the archipelago every time
there is a PCL national convention.
Our
accommodation at the Heritage Hotel is just fine through the
courtesy of the city vice-mayor who acted as our chaperon.

When
we arrived here last Friday afternoon, we already got wind
that the 2007 bar examination results will be released.
According
to our sources, only 11% of the bar examinees made it in the
original result submitted by the bar examination committee
headed by Associate Justice Adolfo Azcuna. The graveyard area
was in Civil Law and in Labor and Social Legislations where
many bar examinees were reportedly disqualified.
The
bar examination committee had to seek reconsideration in order
to adjust the passing average while the Office of the Bar
Confidant was still in the process of decoding the examination
results.

As
of 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, our mole at the Supreme
Court already revealed those who were in the top ten but we
could not divulge their names here pending the official release
of the bar results which we are still waiting as of this writing.
Even
the Supreme Court website has promised to release the bar
results yesterday afternoon but as we write this column, we
still failed to access the High Tribunal's official website
due to heavy Internet traffic.
Earlier,
we already disclosed that the bar examination results will
be released shortly after the Holy Week.
