Bishops Leonard Medroso, Leopoldo Tumulak and Antonietto Cabajug lead pilgrims to welcome the miraculous relics of St. Therese at the entrance of the Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Dauis town last Wednesday. Thousands of devotees/pilgrims jammed every mass officiated during the 3-day visit. Arrest order: BIR officer

The Regional Trial Court - Branch 47 (RTC-47) has ordered the arrest and imprisonment of a ranking Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) official entrapped by the police for extorting P20,000 from a co-owner of the Ramasola Superstudio, Inc. here over seven years ago.

No bail was recommended for BIR Group Supervising Examiner Juanito Merencillo who failed in his moves to reverse the decision convicting him of direct bribery, graft and corruption.

BOHOLANOS TURN TO PRAYERS

 

While protest marchers in an Interfaith Prayers Rally filled Manila streets last Friday evening, Boholanos also displayed their own Prayer Power that same day.

They jammed the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Dauis town for the last day of the Bohol visit of the miraculous relics of St. Therese of the Holy Child Jesus and the Holy Face. For three days, Boholano pilgrims walked to the Church to pray for intercession of St. Therese.

Prayer rally set on Friday

A multi-sectoral group of concerned citizens, alarmed by the growing crisis gripping the nation beset by corruption scandals and human rights violations, has set the first of a series of Prayer Rallies at the Plaza Rizal in the city.

Meanwhile, the series of "Mass for Truth" will kick off at the Baclayon Church at 5 o'clock this afternoon with Msgr. Boy Nunag officiating.

2 Boholanos top doctors licensure


There are already two Boholanos who topped the licensure examination for physicians given by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

The first Boholano topnotcher was Dr. Alfonso Dampog of Batuan town who topped the licensure test in 1967. He is a product of Southwestern University in Cebu City.

Estrada's presence at rally

Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez, who was earlier reported to have "walked out" of the rally when Estrada showed up on stage, clarified that he left with the other religious leaders onstage to give way to the second half of the program and not because of Estrada.

He had no ill feelings about the incident, he said, but noted that if it had been him, he probably would not have used Estrada's appearance at an interfaith rally.
