Provincial lawmakers will conduct its separate inquiry into alleged irregularities in cash disbursements involving cooperatives formed by the Bohol Poverty Reduction Management Office (BPRMO).

This developed even as a probe team created by Gov. Erico Aumentado is set to hold another round of hearings on Friday.

SC ruling on Neri
may lead to cover up

MANILA. The High Tribunal's ruling on the petition of Commission on Higher Education chair Romulo Neri in connection with the Senate's investigation on the anomalous National Broadband Network (NBN) contract with Chinese firm, ZTE Corp., did not only castrate Congress' power of legislative inquiry but also has the effect of covering up a crime.

While the Supreme Court's (SC) decision upholding the doctrine of executive privilege only centered on the three questions related to Neri's conversations with President Arroyo about the NBN-ZTE contract, this opens the door for possible abuse of the doctrine in other Senate inquiries, interviews by abs-cbnNews.com/Newsbreak showed.

CHINA-USA RACE FOR SUPREMACY

 

Just as we thought the Cold War had thawed and the Communist vs.
Western Capitalism rivalry had subsided, a new race for world supremacy is shaping.
It is a geopolitical fight whose intensity and propaganda mileage could be as brutal and effective (respectively) as a Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de la Joya legendary fight.

China is the world's fastest growing economy with exports growing by an average of a friction-blistering 20% per annum while the America is facing perhaps a major recession. Of course, China is worried of a US depression because being the world's second largest exporter, China exports 20% of goods to the United States.
