  Boholano boxers bag 2 gold
 


Two local boxers take home the gold medal in the just concluded 2008 National Amateur Boxing Championships in Iloilo City.

As of presstime last night, the Bohol contingent to the Abap national event has also won a silver medal and 4 bronze medals.

   

Gold medalists are Jessel Magsayo in the ant weight (32 kilograms) - kid category and Raquelito Amonsot in the light welterweight (64 kg) - junior category.

Jonel Paler Jr. won the silver in the flyweight (48 kg) - school boy category.

Taking home the bronze are Eugene Ladeza in the bantamweight (32 kg) - kid category; Bernard Torres, lightpowder weight (35 kg) - kid category; Jenno Cabugngan, pinweight (46 kg) - school boy category; and Alex Consigna, flyweight (50 kg) - cadet category.

The national amateur boxing championships was held May 4 to 10 at the Robinsons Mall Iloilo.

The Bohol team was sponsored by the city government of Tagbilaran in cooperation with Synchrotek Corporation and Pepsi Cola Products Philippines Inc.
