Outfall of drainage
opened


The drainage outfall which was closed due to the existence of some illegally tapped sewerage connections was suddenly opened last Thursday by a crew of the city engineer's office despite the absence of any official clearance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Environment Management Bureau (EMB) Director Rolando Luego told the Chronicle last Friday there was no Discharge Permit issued by his office which is required to ensure pollution control measures before allowing liquid wastes to be released.

TEMPORARY RELIEF FROM DRAINAGE WOES

 

Thanks to a perilous Typhoon Signal No. 1 and two successive typhoons - the Office of the City Mayor - finally - did something right

about the two-year old drainage problem. Temporarily correct, that is.

But it is just a temporary relief - a band-aid solution - for a gaping wound that remains un-addressed. The whole caboodle of inter-related problems is not even one-third solved. FULL TEXT

No "double entry"of 20M equipment budget - PBO

The Provincial Budget Office has issued clarification over the alleged "double entry" of P20,836,000 allocation for equipment acquisition included in the provincial Supplemental Budget (SB) No. 03, series of 2008 amounting to a total of PhP48,617,985.66.

Provincial budget officer Valeria Orig said that the inclusion of P20,836,000 in SB No. 03 could not be considered as "double entry" because the other budget of P168 million earlier proposed for a fleet of equipment has already been corrected to P148 million. FULL STORY


Bohol Division presscon opens

The Department of Education, Division of Bohol holds the 2008 Division Schools Press Conference this week at the Bohol Cultural Center, with the secondary level to start today and caps on Nov. 11 and the elementary level, Nov. 12 to 14.

To be participated by student writers province-wide, the annual gab is a three-day activity of lecture-discussions and workshop sessions, highlighted with competitions in individual/group writing and in radio broadcasting. The winners will represent the province in the regional level.
