MGB orders mining
in Anda terminated

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) regional office has issued a cease and desist order to the extraction of manganese in Anda town.

The mining activity, which became a controversy after it was found to be operated by a brother-in-law of Anda Mayor Paulino Amper, was further discovered by MGB technical personnel as illegal since it encroached an area that is not covered by an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).FULL STORY

Nat'l Seniors Week kicks off Oct. 1
