 Cop nabbed for loose firearm

A policeman assigned at the Corella police station with a record of alleged illegal use of drugs was arrested on Tuesday for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

PO2 Jasper Necesito, who is already facing dismissal from the police service, was arrested after he was seen at the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) with a gun tucked under his shirt.

C/Insp. Julius Muñez, commander of the 705th Provincial Mobile Group, said he saw Necesito, who was wearing civilian clothes, walking towards the supply office of the NOPPO at about 9:15 a.m.. Tuesday and noticed the bulge on his side.

When accosted, Necesito failed to present documents to prove that the firearm he was carrying was legitimate.

Necesito yielded a.45-caliber pistol, a magazine and eight live rounds of ammunition.

Muñez said the firearm had a license that expired as early as Nov. 9, 2001 and that Necesito also did not have a permit to carry it.

He filed charges against Necesito for illegal possession of firearms, saying that even a policeman cannot carry a personal firearm without a license and a permit to carry it outside his residence for law enforcement.

Necesito is currently posted at the Corella police station.
