"One-strike" policy
vs. illegal swertres


Intensifying its campaign against the illegal numbers game "swertres", the Bohol Provincial Police Office is now implementing the one-strike policy and will be terminating police officers in cahoots with gambling financiers.

Bohol PNP Director Police Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ingking warned all station commanders in the province that they should "stop illegal gambling in their area of responsibility or be relieved of their positions". FULL STORY

It's a given that the upcoming Pacquiao versus Hatton match will give the fans their money's worth. With both fighters looking to knock each other out, we are all assured of nonstop action from the first round.

Predicting the outcome of this fight is harder than it seems. Both fighters have distinct advantages that may give them the edge come fight night. Pacquiao has a definite edge in speed and overall boxing skills, but Hatton has the advantage in power, being the naturally bigger guy.

The query on what makes it expensive for a one kilometer concreting project reached the halls of the Sangguniang Panlungsod last Friday.

City Kagawad Zenaido "Djingo" Rama raised during the regular session of the city lawmakers his question on how come the concreting project along Gallares street cost P19 million.

Nat'l mango confab here

Major problems of the mango industry will be addressed in the upcoming 11th National Mango Congress on April 27-29 at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City.

According to Virginia Dela Fuente, President of the Philippine Mango Industry Foundation, Inc. (PMIFI), problems on production, postharvest techniques and facilities, marketing, access to credit and insurance, are among the issues that need immediate actions between government and the private sectors for the industry to grow and prosper. near normal - Napocor

ILOILO CITY. Power supply situation in the Visayas was close to being normalized as of yesterday afternoon after a blackout hit the entire region earlier in the day, the National Power Corp. (Napocor) said.

As of 5:18 p.m., most affected areas were 100-percent energized, with total power supply having been restored to the grid, Napocor communications director Dennis Gana said in a statement. FULL STORY
