Medical mission benefits
thousands

Thousands of less fortunate constituents availed and benefited the recent Surgical Medical and Dental Mission simultaneously held July 20 to 24, at the Bohol Cultural Center, Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, Medical Mission Group of Hospital and Health Services in celebration of the 4th TBTK Global Homecoming of Boholanos, 2009 Sandugo Festival and 155th Bohol Day Anniversary.

The week-long humanitarian undertaking was sponsored by the Provincial Government of Bohol headed by Gov. Erico B. Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Caesar F. Herrera, Provincial Administrator Atty. Tomas D. Abapo Jr. and Provincial Board Member Dr. Tomas Cesar T. Lopez assisted by Philippine Gift of Life headed by its chairman Dr. Ramie Cadag, president/CEO Fancy S. Baluyot and vice president Rev. Fr. Victor Bompat;

City Government of Tagbilaran thru Mayor Dan Neri Lim, Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso, SP City Health chairman Kag. Leonides L. Borja, Deputy Mayor Marlito Uy; Cong. Edgar M. Chatto; Cong. Roberto Cajes; Cong. Adam Relson L. Jala; Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) headed by Betty Garcia and Dr. Anita Cal Jackson; Home Reach Foundation thru chairman, Dr. Pepe REcitas, co-chairman, Dr. Ramie Cadag and Director Richard Uy;

   

Department of Health thru DOH secretary Francisco Doque III and assistant secretary, Dr. Elmer G. Punzalan and Holy Spirit Elementary Class 1977 thru Joseph S. Alagon.

Surgical cases were conducted at Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, cataract cases at the Medical Mission Group of Hospital while medical dental consultation was at the Bohol Cultural Center.

Also on hand to assist were TBTK volunteers, PNA nurses, Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP) and the Bohol Medical Society (BMS) among others.

Baluyot, who is also the consultant for Health and Social Services, conveyed her utmost gratitude to the surgical team headed by Dr. Zaldy O. Buac, Dr. Michael L. Co Del Mar and Dr. Edgar D. Pizarras and their counterpart in USA headed by Dr. Benny Buslon;

Cataract team was headed by Dr. Federico A. Malubay of Philippine Association of Medical Specialists (PAMS); Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines (AMHOP) headed by Dr. Jude Doblas; Bohol Medical Society headed by Dr. Teomaria Jesim, the Board of Anesthesiologist;

TBTK volunteers thru Dr. Anita Cal Jackson; Philippine Nurses Association thru Emma C. Auza, over-all coordinator of volunteers nurses John Philip Calulo; Philippine National Red Cross Bohol Chapter thru Administrator Nenita Briones; Provincial Health Office thru Dr. Reymoses A. Cabagnot;

Dental Team headed by Dr. Felino Columnas; Bohol Circle of Eastern USA thru president Anita T. Borja; PNP Health team headed by PCI Alex F. Bragat; AFP Technical Service Brigade Col. Joseph G. Sevilla and to the Provincial Medical Surgical Mission committee.

According to Provincial Administrator Tomas D. Abapo Jr., 4,508 indigent patients availed and benefited the medical, dental, surgical and cataract mission with quantified cost of P18 million if paid.

The youngest among the patients was 8 years old and the oldest was 92 years old.

As per record of the Department of Health, the Bohol Health Program is the best in the country in terms of medical missions.



BOHOL BEACH CLUB. GM Rolly Jimenez together with the newly formed BBC Cultural Dance Troupe welcomed the M.I.C.E. Buyers from Mainland China, Hongkong, Singapore, India and Europe, during their visit to BBC last July 07, 2009. The M.I.C.E. Buyers are participants to DOT's Philippine M.I.C.E. Buyer Invitational Programme 2009 held recently in Manila.
