One
of the two arrested drug suspects during a buy-bust operation conducted by the
Philippine Drug law Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in barangay Taloto last Feb. 3 was
not a drug pusher.
IO3
Yogi Fernandez L. Ruiz, PDEA provincial officer re-confirmed to the Chronicle
that Roy Esperanza was not the suspect from whom the poseur-buyer received the
small size plastic sachet/pack said to contain white crystalline substance believed
to be shabu.
As
reported in last Sunday's issue of this paper, it was Papias Villamor who handed
over to the PDEA chief one transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline
substance suspected to be shabu and the suspect was given P500 with serial no.
BSO58218."
| | | Villamor,
now detained at the city jail was charged with violation of sec. 5 of R.A. 9165,
a non-bailable offense while Esperanza was charged for violation of sec. 15 of
R.A. 9165 and was released after posting bail due to the fact that the violation
he committed was bailable.
The
PDEA chief said that while he was in the roadside, Villamor approached him and
asked "score mo? Bali pila injo? (want to buy? How much?) Ruiz replied "balig
singko lang part. (P500 only). They went inside the house by the roadside where
the buying took place. | Seized
from Villamor were 2 medium-sized heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing
shabu now marked PTV-01 to PTV-02, all dated Feb 2, 2009 and a medium-sized plastic
sachet with traces of suspected shabu.
It
was reported in last Sunday's issue that the "suspects were charged for violation
of sections 5, 11 and 15, respectively of RA 9165," which referred to Villamor
for sections 5 and 11 while section 15 referred to Esperanza.
However,
the first paragraph of the story inadvertently stated "two suspected drug
pushers," when it should have referred to only "one suspected drug pusher."
Our apologies.
