Lakas-Kampi gears for 2010

The ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi) will caution any split in the 2010 elections as it moves to further seal its merging which was "experimented" during the last local elections.

Gov. Erico Aumentado, Lakas provincial chairman said the ruling party will be strongest this time in preparing for next year's elections after Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and former Pres. Fidel Ramos met last Wednesday the officials of both parties to seal the merging of the two dominant political administration parties.

Workers show flaws
in jobs action plan


MANILA. Workers party-list Partido ng Manggagawa yesterday pointed out the flaws in the action plan drafted at Friday's Multi-sectoral Conference on the Global Financial Crisis organized by the Department of Labor and Employment.

PM chairman Renato Magtubo said the intrinsic flaw in the so-called commitments and deliverables are skewed toward the bailout of capitalists, not the workers. FULL STORY

City SP "denied" of discretionary funds

City hall's executive and legislative arms are headed for another potential battleground, this time for the refusal of the Office of the City Accountant (OCA) to process the discretionary funds of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) members.

City Accountant Kurt Adolph Bungabong told the SP, whose presiding officer is Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso, that his office could not process the financial aids of the vice mayor and councilors to the barangays since the latter failed to submit liquidation papers for the previous aids. "Walk With Us '09" on Feb. 9

Bohol Cares, a cancer support group will stage its second walk for a cause on Feb. 8, 2009.

The assembly point is at the Plaza Rizal and registration begins at 5:30 a.m. with the walk taking off at 6 a.m. Registration is P100 or any amount a walker may wish to donate.

Hundreds are expected to attend the event which has become an important forum for raising community awareness of cancer and raising funds to sustain the projects of the support group. FULL STORY

Homegrown Boholano ring icons AJ "Bazooka" Banal and Czar Amonsot knocked out their foes last night's "They Are Back" at Island City Mall (ICM) carpark in this city.
Banal KOd Indonesian fighter Nouldy Manakane in fourth round (one minute thirty nine seconds) in their 118-pound 10-round bout while Amonsot floored Zoel Fidal in 5th round a 135-pound 8-round match up.

Banal now improves with 19 wins in 20 fights, 14 of which by way of KOs after Manakane while Amonsot now has 19 wins (13 KOs), three (3) losses and one draw. FULL STORY
