Chronicle raps
city treasurer

 City treasurer Visitacion B. Acero is facing administrative charges for illegally conducting an investigation on the alleged non payment of the Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation (BCRC) "on the years 2003 and on the years prior to that."

The Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation, which operates the Bohol Chronicle, Friday filed an administrative complaint with the Department of Finance against Acero for grave misconduct, oppression and harassment and for gross ignorance of the law. FULL STORY

Mike Arroyo -- Enrile

MANILA. First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo can't be forced by the Senate to face the chamber's inquiry into alleged rigging of bids for World Bank-funded projects, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said yesterday.

"It will depend on his physical condition. Mahirap naman na pilitin mo 'yong tao (It won't be good to compel him) if it will endanger his life," said Enrile in an interview on radio dwIZ. FULL STORY

PDEA nabs two drug suspects

Two suspected drug pushers were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a residence in barangay Taloto, this city last Tuesday.

PDEA Prov'l officer I03 Yohi Ruiz identified the suspects as Papias Villamor, Jr., 33, of Inabanga town and Roy Esperanza, 32 of Lindaville subdivision, this city. FULL STORY


Bohol celebrates Nat'l Arts Month '09


The Provincial Government of Bohol, through the Center for Culture and Arts Development (CCAD) and the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council, is spearheading the celebration of this year's National Arts Month.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts or the NCCA, the national government agency tasked with the country's cultural development, has bannered "Ani Ng Sining 2009" as this year's theme for the national celebration.

The month-long celebration will be launched with a short programme at the Provincial Capitol Acacia Courtyard on Tuesday, at 8:30 am. FULL STORY

CITY CLOSED FOR HABAL-HABAL. There will be no more habal-habal operators allowed within the city starting tomorrow after LTO Registar Joel Maloloy-on will welcome a 20-man team from the regional offices to implement the total ban of habal-habal in the city. The presence of other mode of transportation in the city justifies the removal of their operation here. However, they will be allowed to operate in the towns. Olympics Dual Meet to
open here Feb. 15

The Tagbilaran City Olympics Dual Meet gets underway at the CPG Sports Complex on Feb. 15. The two-day qualifying event will select athletes to represent the city district in the Bohol delegation to the 2009 CVIRAA Meet in Dumaguete City next month.

According to City DepEd spokesman Joe Barette, participant will come from both private and public schools in the elementary and high school level. FULL STORY
