Judge under fire on contract case


A Regional Trial Court (RTC) judge in the city finds himself in the firing line after a class suit against the questioned contract of the City Square project landed on his court.

Meanwhile, three lawyers expressed shock on the "wanton and malicious personal attacks and verbal abuse by the mayor against the RTC judge."

The city mayor berated RTC Branch 1 Presiding Judge Teofilo Baluma over an order issued by the latter which bordered on accusations of bribery and intrusion into the local judiciary leveled against the city chief executive. FULL STORY

MANILA.- As more Filipinos lose jobs or get lower pay for shorter working hours, the workers party Partido ng Manggagawa on Saturday pushed for a bailout package for workers and the poor.

Together with the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, the party-list organization also called for a tripartite labor summit on job generation and preservation. FULL STORY

Accountant's Office

The public is banned from the City Accountant's Office (CAO), an administration's act which is probably a bad first in the history of Tagbilaran City governance.

in comeback bouts

Boxing's comeback fights are usually made to redeem a lost prestige after a defeat as in the case of Boholano ring stars AJ Banal and Czar Amonsot. Banal was stopped by Panamanian Rafael Concepcion in a failed bid for the WBA interim super flyweight title, while Amonsot pt up a gallant battle - albeit in a losing cause against Michael Katsidis of Australia n their WBO interim lightweight championship.
